Frequently asked questions.

What happens in a typical consultation?

Consultations take place either online via Zoom or in clinic—a peaceful and secure environment where your privacy and confidentiality are paramount. During your first visit, we’ll discuss your primary concerns and gather a thorough case history. Together, we'll explore your current symptoms, health history, sleep patterns, energy levels, stress levels, and the overall functioning of each body system. Special care is given to understanding your unique emotional and situational factors, as these deeply influence your health and well-being.

Physical inspection plays a key role in the assessment, adding another layer to our understanding. By the end of the consultation, a personalised liquid herbal medicine compound will be create and dispensed which has been tailored to your needs. Each blend is unique, as no two individuals receive the same mixture. The recommended dosage is typically just 5ml in water, taken three times a day. We may also suggest nutrient compounds or powders and flower essences to enhance your natural treatment plan.

How will I benefit from seeing you?

You will be treated with respect and genuine care, and your concerns will be heard. When you leave a consultation, you'll feel reassured that you’ve found someone committed to helping you feel better. In each of our sessions, you can expect the same consistent dedication and compassion.

Our treatment plans are simple, easy to comply with. Nutrition will always be discussed. Any herbal compounded for you are generally dispensed in 210ml bottles, the dosage is low (5ml in water 3 x daily) and so are easy to take.

We are passionate about our work and find deep fulfillment in seeing our patients experience transformative shifts in their health and outlook through nature’s healing remedies. Our goal is to guide and support you on your journey to better health. Please feel free to call for more information or to schedule an appointment.

How much does it cost?

An initial herbal and nutrition consultation takes 90 minutes and costs $165. Follow-up consultations are at approximately 3-4 week intervals (depending on your unique needs) lasting up to 60 minutes and cost $100. Occasionally, shorter consultations may be appropriate (e.g. for certain acute conditions).

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment time, or any missed appointments, will attract a cancellation fee of 100% of the appointment cost.

Please avoid last minute cancelling or rescheduling appointments. As a small business, last minute cancelled or rescheduled appointments impact everyone. When you give enough notice, it allows us to use that time to help someone else in need. Thank you for understanding.

What sort of things do you treat?

Welcome to the world of naturopathy, where healing aligns with nature and the body's innate wisdom. Naturopathy is a holistic approach to wellness that seeks to identify and address the root causes of health issues rather than merely treating symptoms. This practice is founded on principles that prioritise individualised care, preventive health, and the support of the body's self-healing mechanisms. Naturopathic practitioners work with various natural therapies, including herbal medicine, nutrition, lifestyle counselling, and weight loss release, to restore balance and promote optimal health.

At the heart of naturopathy is the belief that each person is unique, and that health is influenced by physical, mental, emotional, and environmental factors. Naturopathic treatment is highly personalised, addressing not only the symptoms but also the underlying factors affecting one’s health and quality of life. Whether you are seeking support for a chronic condition, relief from acute symptoms, or a path to proactive wellness, naturopathy offers a compassionate, effective, and natural approach to health.

How long will it take before I feel better?

There is no set timeline for healing—everyone is unique, responds differently, and factors like the duration and severity of your condition also play a role. That said, most of my patients start noticing improvements by the end of the first week, feel even better by the end of the month, and experience further progress after three months.

A common and unfortunate misconception is that you can supplement your way out of an unhealthy diet. In natural medicine we see food as the fuel for the engine of the body. If you want your engine to run at its best, you need to be open to changing the fuel that gives it its power. Investing small, meaningful steps can provide compounding returns when it comes to improving your health and restoring feelings of wellbeing.

Why do herbs taste foul?

Not all herbs taste foul. In most instances prescribing bitter flavoured herbs are dispensed because it helps achieve a therapeutic aim due to their capacity to aid digestion (which may reduce bloating, digestive discomfort and promote secretion of digestive enzymes and hydrochloric acid). Herbal medicine is generally dispensed in very small doses and diluted in water. If necessary, the taste can be adjusted to enhance compliance.

Do I have to see you every time I want a prescription refill?

As an existing client you can request a prescription refill through your Simple Clinic Patient Portal within 3  months of the original prescription.  If the refill is requested within this period and your health has not changed (e.g. you are not trying to support a new symptom that you haven’t already discussed with your practitioner, or if you have had no change in medications), you may not need a follow-up consultation to request more supplements. Each prescription is unique to you and any changes in presenting symptoms needs to be discussed with your practitioner to ensure it remains appropriate.

For instructions on how you can request a prescription refill through the Simple Clinic Patient Portal, please download and follow this guide.

Can I order practitioner only products through Nurture Point?

You can order practitioner only products if you have been prescribed them by your qualified practitioner. A copy of the prescription will need to be viewed prior to sale. If you cannot produce a prescription we cannot sell you the supplement.

Due to regulations, unfortunately we cannot prescribe practitioner-only products to members of the public without a consultation.

Are your services covered by my private health fund?

As of April 1, 2019, health funds have stopped offering refunds for several "Natural Therapies," including herbal medicine, which means naturopathy services are no longer covered. This decision has sparked considerable debate, with ongoing efforts to have it reversed. The campaign has included petitions and advocacy from our industry to political representatives. Ultimately, it appears that a combination of factors influenced the decision, including federal government budget cuts and pressure from certain segments of the scientific and medical communities.
